Nursing Diagnosis

Journal of Clinical Nursing

Many children's nurses have significant contact with children who have breathing difficulties and should be using systematic criteria to assess their nursing needs. Children's nurses do not appear to follow systematic criteria but are strongly influenced by the medical model and this may be detrimental to holistic assessment and the development of nursing diagnoses based on nursing needs.

Journal of Holistic Nursing: Official Journal of the American Holistic Nurses' Association

Work with nursing diagnosis has provided a classification system for what nursing does and has helped to focus nursing interventions to include more independent nursing care. Natural therapies (an umbrella term covering the many healing and health promotion modalities, traditional and modern, that do not use prescription pharmaceuticals or surgery) are among the more independent care modalities available to nursing.

The present text is based on the final paper on a subject from the graduate program of the Federal University of Santa Catarina. In this paper, I propose the implementation of nursing consultations providing ayurvedic dietary advice as part of the services offered in Primary Care Units for assisting patients with diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. For a better understanding, I bring a brief revision on both ayurveda medicine and diet, emphasizing the importance of balance and harmony of the doshas for maintaining or reaching a good quality of living.

SCI nursing: a publication of the American Association of Spinal Cord Injury Nurses

The purpose of this article is to share professional knowledge, practice, and educational opportunities related to energy-based nursing in order to broaden and improve the delivery of health care services. The holistic, theory-based approach places a patient's perceived needs first, and cares for the human body as well as the spirit. Energy medicine is an intricate part of the patient's expectation for health care. Watson's transpersonal-caring-healing model is explored (Watson, 1999).
